In a time not so long ago

 I Just watched "The Help"  I laughed and I cried.
I personally was raised in Illinois. My parents are from Tennessee. When I was old enough to read we were visiting my parents families. We went to town to the laundromat. The sign read"Whites only" I kept protesting telling my father not to take the colored clothes in. The sign says whites only. Eventually my father told me to shut up. I am thankful I didn't understand the true meaning of that sign. As I am working on family history I find it interesting to find my relatives from Tennessee were in the Union army.
